Crystalline Flora

Whether growing over cave walls or deep inside the Earth, crystals beckon fascination. A medicine man in Peru once told Marsh that the center of Machu Picchu is a giant emerald. Fact, fiction, or lesson, the concept is an enormous source of inspiration. 

Crystalline Flora is a series of gold plated Protea flowers that are crystalized and finished with gems and gold details. Each Protea becomes a new structure evoking wonder at the passage of time on natural elements.

A single King Protea flower is coated in resin before being gold plated. Once plated, the flower is crystalized. Crystals are meticulously grown directly on to the Protea. This requires a controlled environment where a lack of disruption garners the finest results, a process mirroring that of nature. Environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity render unexpected dimensions and sizes, which lead to the unique finish of each piece.
